Riley's Farm Field Trip in Oak Glen

Students learned about how the early colonists lived in America.  They learned many things that day while enduring the very cold weather!

Students worked together to learn how colonists weaved wool to make fabric with a hand loom.

They learned all about churning butter and found that it was much more work than they expected!

Manners were very important in the training of children during the colonial era.  Students heard firsthand about proper etiquette including how a young man should invite a young lady to dance.    Very cute!

Here we visited the local "blacksmith."

They loved learning about the games that young colonist children enjoyed - after the chores were done, of course! They played Trap Ball and Hoop and Stick.

Students learned about candle making and received their own taper candle to take home!
